We aim to be the leader in research and development for the global heating market by providing innovative HVAC-R solutions that adhere to the latest environmental demands.
EDC Vision
Every new breakthrough begins as a design. A design becomes a prototype, which is then evaluated, improved and validated to become a final product. This final product is then introduced to the market, where it is monitored and inspected for future improvements. In sum, this process represents what the EDC is all about.
The EDC is where Daikin turns tangible research into the climate changing technologies of tomorrow. With its main headquarters located in Ostend and Gent (Belgium), and affiliate sites in Güglingen (Germany), Plzen (Czech Republic), Istanbul (Turkey) and Mantova (Italy), the EDC represents an international network working towards innovation in the HVAC-R industry through research and development.
With extensive experience developing the latest heating solutions, the EDC currently serves as Daikin’s Base Development Centre to test and create new heating technologies and products for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Investing in our staff and infrastructure
We invested nearly 13 million euros in technology and infrastructure to create the EDC. By updating existing facilities with new high-tech testing rooms, the EDC is the place to evaluate the performance of our products to achieve comfort, energy efficiency and reliability in all climate conditions.
The EDC is composed of several different departments, including Product Development, Reliability and Compliance. Each of these departments are led by engineers from many diverse backgrounds who have the opportunity to work together to shape the future of the HVAC-R industry.
